Tell us a little bit about yourself!
My name is Sidney and I am a 23 year old female. My skin type is oily and sensitive!
Skincare is more than just what you put on your face, so we’ll ask you a little bit about the other factors that can affect skin health. Tell us about your diet.
I don’t eat as healthy as I could, but I try to limit fast food to once a week and eat at home the rest. I enjoy meals such as pasta, taco salads, and carne asada nachos. I try to limit dairy but still eat cheese because it’s my favorite! I also drink at least 96oz of water a day!
Any prescription meds?
My birth control (Yaz) has helped tremendously with my skin. In fact, I went off of my birth control for about 6 months to see how it would affect me and my skin became the worst it’s ever been. I’ve now been back on birth control for 4 years and I only deal with hormonal breakouts and the occasional zit!
What is your biggest skin concern?
Definitely redness and hyperpigmentation.
Tell us about the products that helped you get rid of acne and achieve your skin today.
Previously, I would just remove my makeup and wash my face. Now, I have a night time skin routine! I use First Aid Beauty’s Skin Rescue Deep Cleanser with Red Clay as my face wash, and follow with Biossance’s Squalane + Tea Tree Balancing Oil. I then use First Aid Beauty’s Ultra Repair Cream as a moisturizer (First Aid Beauty’s Coconut Skin Smoothie in the morning) and follow with Kiehl’s Creamy Avocado Eye Treatment (sometimes I switch between this product and Biossance’s Squalane + Peptide Eye Gel). Lastly, I use Glossier’s zit stick on any problem areas, apply a spritz of Pixi’s Milky Mist for added hydration, add a thin layer of GrandeLash’s eyelash serum on my eyelashes, and Laneige’s Lip Mask on my lips! I use Lush’s Cup O’ Coffee face mask about once a month and The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution every other week.
How did you apply the product(s) (frequency, method, etc?)
I apply all of the products every single night (excluding face masks). In the morning, I just wash my face with water and First Aid Beauty’s Skin Rescue Deep Cleanser with Red Clay and follow with First Aid Beauty’s Coconut Skin Smoothie Priming Moisturizer. I then follow with a face sunscreen, which is currently Neutrogena’s Clear Face sunscreen (SPF 55).
How long did it take you to see results?
It took about 6 months to really see a difference!
Have the results stayed?
The results have definitely stayed. My skin still isn’t perfect, but I deal with breakouts a lot less often than I used too!
What ingredient of the product did you find most impactful?
Biossance’s Squalane + Tea Tree Oil has definitely been a game changer for me. The tea tree oil calms down my redness and immediately tends to problem areas!
Looking back at your routine before, what were you doing wrong for your skin?
Not using sunscreen but being in the sun daily really harmed my skin and made my redness and hyperpigmentation much worse! I think also changing products way too often. Once my skin would finally adjust to a product, I’d already be trying the next product and my skin would restart the purging process. Sticking to one routine consistently proved to be the best for my skin!
Any advice for other enthusiasts?
Wear your sunscreen and remember that you’re beautiful no matter where you’re at in your skincare journey!
