You have some great answers here. While you can use them together, I would advise you to start out slow and build up your tolerance for both if you're just starting out! Honestly my favorite is an exfoliating toner such as Paula's Choice 2% BHA or Pixi Glow Tonic, these you can wash off easily if you find them to be overly irritating on your skin.

I use both at the same time! Just make sure you build up to it.

yes you can! personally, I'm a little wary of acids and irritating my skin, so I've had good luck with products that contain both. depending on what kind of skin you have, you might be better suited for one over another. I tried a sample of this Drunk Elephant serum but not really sure if I want to drop close to $100 for an exfoliant...

The short answer is yes, you can use them together. However, should you is a whole different answer depending on a few factors: 1) Are you new to chemical exfoliation? If so, I would recommend starting off with one, building tolerance gradually over time and making sure your skin is not irritated, and eventually introducing the other acid. I'd also maybe look for products that already formulate with both AHA + BHA, as they're designed for the benefit of both types of acids. 2) Do you have oily skin? If you have more oily skin, using both can be beneficial. Use BHA first then AHA. BHA penetrates deeper into your skin and is oil-soluble, then follow with AHA, which is water-soluable. When used this way, they can effectively deep clean your pores. 3) Do you have time for your skincare routine? Typically, you want to give some time in between applying your acids so that your skin pH has time to return to normal. I wouldn't just apply one and then the other right away, I'd make sure to give some time. Obviously if you don't have the time, I would think about switching off every other day.

Using both at the same time might cause over exfoliation. When I started using AHAs and BHAs at night my face got really shiny and dry the next day, so I started AHA in the morning and BHA at night and it's worked much better for my skin.

Yes, you can use them both at the same time. In my opinion, it's better to use them separately because your skin can be irritated if you use them both at the same time. My skin once flaked for a week and I strongly suspect it was because I was combining acids in the same routine which led to irritation.
