  • Thayers-Alcohol-Free Witch Hazel Facial Toner
    What I liked
    The smell choices are OK.
    What I disliked
I had heard inklings of witch hazel being too harsh for long-term use, but it wasn’t until I started DMing and watching LAbeautyologist, who invented the 60-second rule, that I realized that this product was the cuss of my increased oil production. That day I  decided to turn over a new leaf — hence the 1 star. Witch hazel is an ASTRINGENT and toners are supposed to restore skins pH so this isn’t a toner. I am grateful that finished the first bottle and the second one will work as a brush cleaner.
    Special Tips
Great alternative: Heritage Store’s Rosewater Facial Toner

I honestly don't know what the hype is around witch hazel, so many people I know use it! There are so many better options out there :)

Oh, interesting! It seems like a lot of folks use this in their skincare routines (even on this community). I guess most people use it to make sure their skin is extra "clean" but seems like what this does is it just dries out your skin too much??

What's the 60 second rule? 👀

It is a rule invented by an esthetician who goes by LABeautologist on IG and GoldenSkinRx on YouTube. She tells you to wash your face for no less than 60 seconds to allow the cleanser you use to really work for you skin and break down everything. It is awesome.

Huh, I've never heard of that before! I definitely don't wash my face for 60 seconds so I'll need to start doing that, lol. :)

It has really helped my skin. And it put into perspective how little time I put into cleansing my face before hand. My cleansers before had no time to break down the oil/sebum.
