Not doing my research sooner. I just relied on what the ladies at Nordstrom and Bloomingdales told me to use. A lot of it irritated my skin. I feel a lot more empowered now that I'm actually looking into what works for my skin and why.
My biggest skincare regret is probably spending too much money on products that didn't have any scientific backing. I consider it money wasted. Now, I'm much more careful to do my research and only really invest my money on ingredients that are proven.
Hmm I have quite a few regrets, but one of mine would be not investing in exfoliating properly. I think it really didn't help that I was using harsh physical exfoliators that were probably causing more irritation to my skin than anything else. Once I found chemical exfoliators, I had to learn which ones work for me (story for 'nother time, phew) but it really helped clear up my skin.
I flat out did not know skincare and would blindly buy products that were recommended by my favorite youtubers. I ended up spending wayyyy too much money for products that weren't right for me. But at least now I've learned trial by fire, and I can help others avoid the same mistake lol.
Washing my face three times everyday. Once in the morning, once after working out, once at night. I did a foam cleanser all three times. Needless to say, my skin was not happy
not double cleansing sooner. it's a concept I lived without for until 3 years ago. been a total gamechanger, I suspect I wasn't cleansing properly before then which caused a whole host of troubles with my skin.
All the clean & clear products I used to use... SMH.....lol
But also, I used to be pretty harsh with my skin! Scrubbing it hard and rubbing products into my skin. I'm much more gentle with my skin now.
This. They should really teach you how to take care of your skin in school, it's actually pretty basic stuff. Instead I went out and bought products thinking higher concentration of something is always better. I was super harsh to my skin, lol.
Ugh, main one is rubbing lemon slices on my face one summer to try and get rid of freckles. It stung soooo much and my skin was temporarily damaged for weeks after!
P50 is a cult chemical exfoliant manufactured by a French company, Biologique Recherche. It works wonders to produce a “lit from within glow” to skin. Caroline Hirons reviews it on YouTube. It’s expensive but worth every penny.
